Holliston - Mrs. Barbara W. Storer, of Dedham, formerly of Waltham, died Monday October 5, 2015 at the Timothy Daniels House in Holliston. She was 93.
Born and raised in Waltham, the daughter of the late Carl G. and Edla Irene (Gronlund) Weeks, Barbara had lived in Dedham from 1955 to 2008 with her husband Dick who was Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds and then Plant Manager at Noble and Greenough School in Dedham for thirty-one years until his retirement in 1986. She was a 1940 graduate of Waltham High School.
She graduated from the Faelton Pianoforte School in Boston, played as an accompanist for musical ensembles, and later taught piano. She worked during WWII in the business office at the W.H. Nichols Company in Waltham, at the former Spears Associates, Inc. in Norwood in the late 1980's, and later at the Marriott Hotel gift shop in Auburndale.
Barbara and Dick enjoyed spending summers at their cottage in Duxbury since 1958.
Barbara was the sister of the late Alan Weeks and Norman Weeks, and sister-in-law of the late Warren, Clarence, Robert, Paul, and Wilbur Storer, Bertha Leonard, Ruth Christianson and Ethel Tibbets.
Barbara leaves her children, Jeffrey B.Storer and his wife, Susan, of Savannah, GA, Richard D. Storer and his wife, Jane, of Harleysville, Pennsylvania and Duxbury, MA, and Susan I. Storer and her husband, Nicholas Morana, of Holliston; her grandchildren, Elizabeth, Andrew, Alisha, Molly, Nat, Sarah and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Barbara at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday November 28th at the Scandinavian Living Center, 206 Waltham Street, Newton, MA.
Memorial donations may be made to the Timothy Daniels House-Activities Fund or the Alzheimer's Research and Prevention Foundation.
