Benjamin M. Dooling

May 8, 1973 — October 24, 2013

Benjamin Mark Dooling, of Waltham, died October 24, 2013 at home. He was 40.

Ben was born in Newton on May 8, 1973 a son of Curtis M. and Charlotte T. (Denman) Dooling. He was very sensitive to the spiritual and emotional realms of life which led directly to his art. His journey took him to a creative recovery program beginning at the Plymouth House in Plymouth, New Hampshire. For the last 6 years, his artistic gifts matured and helped transform early pain into joy. His second collection of poems, Leaning Light (Back Pages Publishers, www.backpagesbooks.com) was published the week of his death. Additional poems by Ben may be found on his website, http://www.bendooling.com/. The foundation of his recovery during these same 6 years in Portland, Maine, involved helping others on their own journeys.

In addition to his parents Curtis and Charlotte he leaves his siblings, David Dooling and his wife, Amy of Falls Church, Virginia, Rachel K. McDonough and her husband, Timothy of Billerica and Sarah E. Dooling of Austin, Texas.

A memorial service will be held in Portland, Maine, at the HopeGateWay Methodist Church at 509 Forest Avenue on Saturday, November 16, from 12-3PM. His parents, Mark and Charlotte Dooling, will be receiving visitors at Cronin's Landing, 25 Crescent Street, Apt 127 in Waltham on Tuesday, October 29, from 3-7PM.
