Waltham – Miss Bernadette C. Chiasson, of Waltham, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 in the Golden Living Center in West Newton. She was 75.
Bernadette was born on February 6, 1937 in Waltham, a daughter of the late William and Melanie 'Minnie' (Aucoin) Chiasson. She was a graduate of Waltham High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Emmanuel College in Boston.
Until her retirement she worked as an engineer for the Textron Corporation for more than 30 years. An active volunteer, Bernadette found great satisfaction working with hospice and in the "Children's Room" at the former Waltham Hospital. She also helped in tutoring students in mathematics and was an active member of the former Saint Joseph's Church where she taught in its CCD program.
Bernadette is survived by her sister, Lorraine B. Martin of Cass City, Michigan and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by her siblings, John, Edmond, Paul, Joseph and Leo Chiasson and Mary Bourgeois.
Family and friends will honor and remember Bernadette's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, July 26th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
