Mr. Bernard J. ‘Skip’ Coutu of West Roxbury, formerly of Waltham and Watertown died Friday February 25, 2011 in his home. He was 66.
Skip was born on July 26, 1944 in Waltham, a son of the late Roland A. Coutu, III and Mary C. (Doherty) Coutu, and had lived in Watertown for many years before moving to West Roxbury twelve years ago. He enjoyed most especially being around his family and grandchildren and always had a passion in his collection of 150 Zippo Lighter’s and over 100 different style lighters. Skip took much pride in playing with his collection of antique cars when the grandchildren would come and visit. He also served in the United States Navy.
Skip leaves his wife of forty-four years, Ann M. (Maher) Coutu, his children, Michele M. Torchio and her husband, Richard, of Framingham, Christine Luise and her husband, John, of Norwood, and Vickie Fiorentino and her husband, Eric, of Watertown, his grandchildren, Brian, Samantha, Christopher, Joseph, Ashley, and Eric, three brothers, Roland Coutu of Florida, Ronald Coutu of Durham, North Carolina, Michael Coutu of Sudbury, and John Dodson of Framingham. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Skip was also the brother of the late Cynthia Colella.
Family and friends will honor and remember Skip’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Tuesday March 1st, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 11 a.m. on Wednesday morning when his funeral service will be held. Committal services will follow in Newton Cemetery Chapel, 791 Walnut Street, Newton.
