Bernard F. Matthews

Medford – Mr. Bernard F. Matthews, Jr., of Medford, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010 in the Brighten at Medford Nursing Home. He was 63.

Bernie was born in Somerville on September 17, 1946, a son Lillian (Francq) of Belgium and the late Bernard F. Matthews. He had been a resident of Somerville, Quincy and Boston and had worked in the construction industry. He had also served with the Massachusetts National Guard

In addition to his mother, Bernie is survived by his brother, Eugene F. Matthews of Ellsworth, Maine; a step-brother, Jean Marc DeClercq of Belgium; his niece, Melissa Farley, his nephew, Alexander DeClerq, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Family and friends will honor and remember Bernie’s life by gathering on Saturday at 5 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, Waltham where his funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Burial will be private.
