Waltham – Mr. Bernard J. Melanson, of Waltham, died Saturday, January 1, 2011 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 67.
Bernard was born in Moncton, New Brunswick on October 17, 1943, a son of the late Thaddee and Geneva (LeBlanc) Melanson, and had been a Waltham resident for the past forty-five years. He was a self-employed mason and was also a member of the French-American Victory Club in Waltham.
He leaves his wife, Elizabeth M. (Caissie) Melanson; his children, Maurice B. Melanson of Waltham, Yvette G. Fagan of Ashburnham, Phillip C. Melanson of Waltham and Monique A. Randall of Lincoln; his brothers and sisters, Francis Melanson, Emery Melanson, Gloria LeBlanc, Claudette Richard, Murielle DesRoches, Sylvia Clancy all of New Brunswick, Canada, and Bernice LeBlanc of Waltham. Also survived by six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews
Bernard was also the brother of the late Raymond Melanson
Family and friends will honor and remember Bernard’s life by gathering for calling hours at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Route 20), Waltham on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will be private.
