Waltham - Mr. Bernard W. Meyler, of Waltham, died Thursday, June 30, 2011 in his home. He was 79.
Bernie was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 13, 1931, a son of the late William and Johanna (Brokus) Meyler and had lived in Waltham for the past fifty years. He was raised and educated in Baltimore, graduating from Mt. Saint Joseph High School and the University of Baltimore. He later earned a masters degree in education from Suffolk University and his MBA from Northeastern University. Until his retirement he worked as a certified public accountant and had been a professor for twenty-five years at Suffolk University in Boston. During the Korean War he served with the United States Navy.
The husband of the late Doris M. (Mulcahy) Meyler, he leaves his children, Bernard W. Meyler, Jr. of Westford, Katherine M. Dugan of Norwood, Stephen E. Meyler of Natick, Ann Marie Asadoorian of Concord and Daniel M. Meyler of Stoneham; 14 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Bernie was also the brother of the late William Meyler.
Family and friends will honor and remember Bernie’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery, Waltham.
