Bellingham – Mrs. Beth H. (Johnson) Travis, of Bellingham, died Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Stanley Tippett Hospice Home in Needham. She was 73.
Beth was born in Boston, a daughter of the late Alvin and Doris (Wilson) Johnson, and was raised in Waltham. She was a 1965 graduate of Waltham High and had been a longtime member of Christ Church on Main Street.
A Waltham resident for most of her life, she also lived in Mashpee for thirteen years before moving to Bellingham five years ago. Until her retirement she worked as an insurance broker at East Insurance in Bedford which later became part of Caddell & Byers and also for Rogers Gray Insurance on the Cape. Before that she worked for years at BayBank in Waltham.
Faith, family and friendship were the hallmarks of Beth's life. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of reading a good book, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy and never missed an opportunity to entertain guests at home. She also had a special place in her heart for her dogs.
She leaves her husband, Gary E. Travis; her son, Michael J. Hale and his wife, Vanessa, of Bellingham; her grandchildren, Matthew, Brooke and Scarlett Hale, Dennis and Jacqueline Gallant and Katharine and Taylor Canale; her great-grandchildren, Christina and Sarah Pina and her dear friends Michael and Jean 'Minnie' Hale of Taunton and Bob and Priscilla Leduc of Dracut.
Beth was also the mother of the late Sarah Hale.
Family and friends will honor and remember Beth's life by gathering for calling hours on Thursday, November 7th from 4 to 7 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham where funeral service will be held at 7 p.m.
