Betty Jane (Bowman) Hurnowicz

Weston - Mrs. Betty Jane (Bowman) Hurnowicz of Weston,died Tuesday, December 31, 2013, in the Epoch Senior Healthcare Center in Weston. She was 89. Mrs. Hurnowicz was born in Waltham on April 28, 1924, a daughter of the late George and Dorothy (Forsey) Bowman.

Betty Jane had lived in Waltham, Brockton, and Weymouth before moving to Weston. During World War II she served with the United States Coast Guard.

Until her retirement, Betty Jane worked at the BJ's Wholesale Club in Weymouth.

She was the wife of the late Francis Hurynowicz and is survived by her sister, D. Joyce Condon of Waltham; her nieces and nephews, James G. Condon and his wife, Gina, of Waltham, Jack A. Condon of Sherman Oaks, California, Jill Carlson and her husband, Wayne, of Waltham, and her grandniece, Georgi Condon.

Betty Jane was the sister of the late George L. "Sonny" Bowman and the aunt of the late Christiana Bowman.

Family and friends will honor and remember Betty Jane's life by gathering to visit at 10 a.m. on Monday morning, January 6th , in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham where her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 2:15 p.m.
