Betty A.(Matyoska) Strazdas

West Newton – Mrs. Betty A. (Matyoska) Strazdas, of West Newton, died Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston. She was 88.

Betty was born and raised in Nashua, New Hampshire, a daughter of the late William and Beatrice (Tetlow) Matyoska and moved to West Newton following her marriage in 1954 to Philip J. Strazdas.

She worked as a beautician for years and many of her clients became lifelong friends. Betty kept a wonderful home and was a talented gardener. Her baking skills were always appreciated by family, especially around the holidays.

In addition to her husband of sixty-four years, Phil, she leaves her nieces and nephews, John Strazdas of Braintree, Richard Strazdas of Westford, Peter Strazdas of Portage, Michigan, Theresa Duggan of Wellesley, Elaine Holmes of Waltham, Joan Adamczyk of Georgetown, Phyllis Burke of Wellesley, Donna Federoff of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Carol Kain of Florida and many great nieces and nephews and their families.

Betty was also the sister of the late Dr. Joseph W. Matyoska.

Family and friends will honor and remember Betty's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, November 13th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday morning when her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
