Biagio Cinqueonce of Waltham passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 3, 2016, surrounded by his loving family on his 85th birthday.
He was the husband of the late Antonina (Faranda) Cinqueonce and the son of the late Salvatore and Concetta (Marano) Cinqueonce.
The youngest of 8 children, Biagio immigrated to the United States from Bronte, Sicily with his family in 1973 and settled in Waltham. Although leaving behind his beloved hometown, he maintained lifelong friendships and was well-known by many.
An arborist by trade, he took great pride in keeping his gardens and trees beautifully landscaped. He was a talented craftsman and enjoyed making his own wine, which he loved to share with family and friends. Until his retirement, he worked at Seilers of N.E.
He was the devoted and loving father of Concetta Longhitano and her partner Gino Galante of Waltham, Nancy and her husband Anthony Pesce of Woburn, Gina and her husband Frank Pino of Lexington, Salvatore Leanza and his wife Kelly of Sudbury and Carmelo and his wife Liz, of Hugo, Minnesota. He was the cherished grandfather of Federica and her husband David Concepcion, Samuele Longhitano, Thomas Perry and his wife Ursula, Michael Perry and his wife Irene, Alexander Fetbroth, Jaclyn Serafina, Nicholas, Gianna and Sara Leanza, Allison and Jayna Carpenter and Gabriela Cinqueoce. Beloved great-grandfather of Chiara, Emmanuele, Chase, Evan, Roman and Nina. He was also the brother-in-law of Maria and her husband Vincenzo Spoto, Matilde and her husband Domenico DiFiore and Alfina Faranda.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to honor and remember Biagio's life by gathering for calling hours in the Joyce Funeral home, 245 Main Street (Route 20) in Waltham, on Wednesday, September 7th, from 5-8pm. Again on Thursday morning at 9am, before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham, where a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Biagio's life will be held at 10 am. Burial will immediately follow in Calvary Cemetery.
