Waltham - (Ret.) Colonel Bob W. Farley, USMC died Monday, March 22, 2004 at his home. He was 73. Born in Caldwell, Idaho, a son of the late Tilford and Jessie (Dilley) Farley, he was raised and educated in Boise. He was a graduate of the College of Idaho and earned a post graduate degree in aeronautical engineering at the College of Monterey in California. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps in 1952 where he served for thirty years, retiring as a Colonel. He was a Marine pilot and saw action during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He served at various Marine bases throughout the Pacific and in Washington, D.C. where he helped to develop aircraft reconnaissance systems. He was a member of the Waltham Disabled Americans and the Elks and also volunteered at Hanscom Air Base, the Bedford Veterans Administration Hospital and for Meals on Wheels in Waltham. He leaves his wife, Joan M. (Murray) Farley; two sons, Shal Farley of Monrovia, CA and Christopher Farley of Kailua, HI; one sister, Jacquelyn Rivenburg of Tuscon, AZ; his sister-in-law, Audrey Jachthon of Woburn; 5 grandchildren; one niece and one nephew. He was also the husband of the late Natalie (Kean) Farley. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 9 a.m. Saturday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Julia's Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Punchbowl National Cemetery, Honolulu, Hawaii.
