Brian M. Shaughnessy, of Davenport, Florida, formerly of Waltham and Burlington, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 in his home. He was 67 years old.
Brian was born in Saint Elizabeth's Hospital on March 10, 1953, the son of Doris M. (Sutherland) Shaughnessy of Waltham and Marshfield and the late Paul V. Shaughnessy, Esq. He was raised and educated in Waltham where he attended Saint Joseph's school and graduated Waltham High School, class of 1972. Before his retirement he was a foreman at the Boston Herald for many years and was also the former owner/operator of Quick Stop Variety on Main Street. Brian was a gentleman who adored his family; he was the type of husband, son, brother, uncle and friend that could be counted upon to help in any way. Retirement afforded he and his wife, Donna, the opportunity to move to Florida where they created many happy memories.
Brian was a smart conversationalist on so many topics, especially the Boston sports teams, but he mostly loved spending time with his soulmate Donna. He loved Italian food, specifically Chateau meatballs and his favorite creation, his chicken cacciatore dinner. He was generous to a fault and always had an open door for friends and family to take a fun vacation break in sunny Florida and to experience the magic of Disney. Brian loved boating, skiing, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and most recently his golf cart. Brian had an excellent spirit, a quick wit and always had a joke ready to tell. He was a kind, caring and thoughtful person. He was a bright light in many lives and will be missed by all who knew him.
He leaves his wife, Donna Wade, of Davenport, Florida; his mother, Doris M. (Sutherland) Shaughnessy of Waltham and Marshfield; his siblings, Patricia M. Whalen of Framingham, Paul V. Shaughnessy, Jr. (JoAnn) of Norwood, Robert J. Shaughnessy (Judith) of Marshfield, Richard J. Shaughnessy (Stephanie) of Hull, Andrea J. Elliott (Richard) of Rockland, Janet M. Nelson (George) of Waltham and Marybeth D. Newell (John) of Waltham, his mother-in-law Evelyn Wade (late Robert E.) of Burlington, his sisters and brothers-in law, Patrick Farrell of Latham, New York, Robert Wade (Susan) of Richland, Washington, Douglas Wade (Karyn) of Stoughton, Matthew Wade (Nancy) of Foxboro and Tracey Wade of Burlington, and twenty-five nieces and nephews.
Brian was also the uncle to the late David J. Wade of Stoughton.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 22nd, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
Memorial donations may be made to Tunnels to Towers or Wounded Warriors Project.
