Mrs. C. Grace (Murphy) Eagan of Needham, formerly of Waltham died Tuesday in her 101st year, September 2, 2003 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Needham. Born in Cambridge, a daughter of the late Timothy and Catherine(Mullin) Murphy, Mrs. Eagan was a telephone operator for the New England Telephone Company for many years before her retirement in 1964. Mrs. Eagan lived in Waltham from 1925 until 1994, when she moved to Needham. Mrs. Eagan was the wife of the late Retired Waltham Deputy Fire Chief, Charles J. Eagan, and mother of the late Retired Waltham Deputy Fire Chief Charles R. Eagan and Retired Waltham Fire Lieutenant Edward J. Eagan. She is survived by one daughter, Dorothy G. Brooks with whom she made her home in Needham; one son, John J. Eagan and his wife Judy of Waltham; her daughters-in-law, Marilyn Eagan of Ft. Meyers, FL and Lorraine Eagan of Waltham; and one sister, Irene Dunbar of Waltham. She was also the proud grandmother of 19, great grandmother of 22, and great great grandmother of 1, and she leaves many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Celebration of her Life in Saint Marys Church, 133 School Street, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Cambridge Cemetery.
