Cambridge – Mr. Carl M. Julian, of Cambridge, died Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Meadow Green Nursing Home in Waltham. He was 86.
Carl was born and raised in Trinidad, one of eleven children born to the late Stafford and Beatrice (DuBois) Julian. He was educated in his native country and moved with his family to the United States in 1969, settling in Cambridge.
Until his retirement he worked as a draftsman and construction coordinator at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge. Carl and his family were longtime parishioners at Saint Peter's Church in Cambridge where he was a member of the choir. In Trinidad he was also active with his parish Saint Vincent dePaul Society and Knights of Columbus organizations.
He leaves his beloved wife, Leonie (Hawkins) Julian; his children, Maria B. Julian of Malden, Michael S. Julian of Newton, Margaret T. Belix of Waltham, Joseph E. Julian of Land O' Lakes, Florida, Julia C. Maharaj of Casselberry, Florida, John F. Julian of Malden, Ann M. Julian of Malden, Anthony N. Julian of Greer, South Carolina, Giuliano P. Julian of Cambridge and Grace M. Julian-Murthy of Malden; his sisters, Barbara Ford and Olive Richards, both of Trinidad and thirteen grandchildren.
Carl was also a brother of the late Doreen Julian, Predencia Syder, Hermie Julian, Dowling Julian, Dunstan Julian, Pearl Villafana, Glenda Julian and Cito Julian.
Family and friends will honor and remember Carl's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, January 8th from 6 to 8 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
