Marshfield - Mr. Carl B. Rayburg, of Marshfield, formerly of Newton and Newport, Rhode Island, died Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He was 87. Carl was born in Newport on July 18, 1920, a son of the late Alfred and Olga (Anderson) Rayburg, and was a graduate of Rogers High School in Newport. He moved to Newton in 1944 where he lived before moving to Marshfield in the past year. During World War II, Carl served with the United States Coast Guard and had worked as a milkman for the H.P. Hood Company for twenty-five years. After Hood, he worked as a self-employed carpenter. He enjoyed playing contract bridge and pitch. He leaves his wife, Geraldine M. 'Gerry' (Sullivan) Rayburg; his children, Susan A. Provoda of Feeding Hills and William H. Rayburg and his wife, Barbara, of Waltham; his grandchildren, Rebecca, Benjamin and Casey Rayburg, Kristina Skaza and Joseph Provoda; his great-grandchildren, Alex and Josh Provoda and Katie Rayburg and several nieces and nephews. Carl was also a brother of the late Alfred Rayburg. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 9:30 a.m. Friday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:30 p.m. Visiting hours are omitted.
