Norwood - Mrs. Carmela S. (Auditore) Levy, formerly of Waltham, died Monday, June 4, 2018 in Norwood Hospital. She was 80.
Born on July 2, 1937 in Waltham she was a daughter of the late Carmelo G. and Rose V. (Giove) Auditore. Raised in Waltham she was a graduate of Rosary Academy and Newton Junior College where she received her degree in nursing. A lifelong Waltham resident she lived most of her life in the home her father built on Lafayette Street before moving to Norwood in November 2014.
Carmela worked as a registered nurse at Waltham Hospital where she at one point was the head nurse in the Coronary Care Unit. Prior to her retirement in 2003 she worked in the labor and delivery unit. After her work at Waltham Hospital she worked part-time in private nursing.
She leaves her husband, Malcom D. Levy; her son, David M. Levy and his wife, Kristen of Sandwich; her grandchildren, Sean M. and Ryan M. Levy; her sister-in-law, Vincenza Auditore of Waltham; also survived by many nieces & nephews, great-nieces & great-nephews. She is predeceased by her brother, Anthony S. 'Nino' Auditore.
A season ticket holder to the Boston Ballet she also loved classical music, theater and musicals. Time spent with her family and friends, attending Mass, arts and crafts, watching old movies were all things she enjoyed and treasured. Carmela loved time spent by the ocean, trips to Disney World and the lifelong friendships with classmates and those with whom she worked at Waltham Hospital.
Family and friends will honor and remember Carmela's life by gathering for calling hours on Thursday, June 7th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude's Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Newton Cemetery, Newton.
