Union, SC – Mrs. Carmela E. ‘Nellie’ (Mula) Renna, of Union, South Carolina, formerly of Waltham, died Thursday April 22, 2010. She was 87.
Nellie was born in Waltham on November 23, 1922, a daughter of the late Vincenzo and Rose (Falzone) Mula, and had been a lifelong resident of Waltham before moving to Union one year ago. She had worked as a supervisor for the Raytheon Corporation in the I.C.S. Department for over forty years until her retirement. She was also a lifelong communicant at Sacred Heart Church in Waltham.
She leaves her children, Richard A. Renna and his wife, Terri, of Union, South Carolina and Jeffrey J. Renna and his wife, Jane, of Waltham; her grandchildren, Vincent Renna of Waltham, Drew and Gray Ransom both of Union, South Carolina, Shayna Blodget of Newmarket, New Hampshire and Robert McGilvray III, of Arlington; one brother, Rosario ‘Rusty’ Mula and his wife, Dorothy, of Waltham; three sisters, Susan Mula of Natick, Josephine Mula and Mary Toohey, both of Hudson; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Mula of Waltham and many nieces and nephews.
Nellie was also a sister of the late Carmelo ‘Chuck’ Mula, Katherine McCue, Anne Marcolina and Sally Bonica.
Family and friends will honor and remember Nellie’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
