Waltham - Mrs. Carmela M. (Fanara) Roe, of Waltham, died Monday, July 19, 2010 in the High Gate Manor Nursing Home in Dedham. She was 86.
Carmela was born in Aragona, Sicily, Italy on June 4, 1924, a daughter of the late Raimondo and Antonia (Salamone) Fanara. She was a floral designer for DeVincent Farms for over thirty years until her retirement. In addition to flower arranging, Carmela loved to knit.
She was the wife of the late Everett E. Roe, Sr., the grandmother of the late Michelle Blodgett, and the sister of the late Joseph Fanara, Marie Bucci, and Josephine McArthur.
Carmela is survived by her daughter, Enith F. Blodgett of Waltham; her son, Everett E. Roe, Jr. and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Bellingham; her brothers, Santo Fanara of Waltham, Angelo Fanara of Hillsboro, New Hampshire, and Charles Fanara of Westfield; her sisters, Annette Smith of Silver Spring, Maryland, Santina Wunderman of Glendale, California, and Angelina Emberley of Waltham; four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Carmela’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery, Waltham.
