Carol A. (Milley) Armstrong died peacefully at home on Friday, March 3, 2023 with her family at her side. She was 70.
Carol was born in Worcester on April 5, 1952 a daughter of the late Richard C. and Lillian (Lindgren). Raised in Shrewsbury she was a graduate of Shrewsbury High School with the class of 1970. She then earned her nursing certification from Somerville Hospital School of Nursing. She married Thomas J. Armstrong on September 13, 1986 and was a Waltham resident for over 50 years.
For over 40 years she worked as a registered nurse. She began her career at Waltham Hospital and later for over 20 years at Saint Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton, retiring in April 2022.
Carol was most content when sitting in her chair on the beach with the read of a good book. Her most favorite spot was her cottage at East Sandwich Beach on Cape Cod. Either alone to enjoy the comfort of the sun and sounds of the ocean or in the company of family...including any of her ten grandchildren, and friends. She would be the first one on the beach picking out her spot.
While she enjoyed a good book it’s no secret, she loved getting lost in back-to-back episodes of Law & Order and General Hospital amongst other television programs.
She is predeceased by her son, Stephen T. Armstrong († Feb. 9, 2022)
In addition to her husband of 36 years, Tom, she leaves her children, Malinda L. Laudate of Waltham, Tony R. Laudate and his wife, Jen of Hudson, Leanne C. (Armstrong) Dufresne and her husband, Rick of Millbury; her grandchildren, Anthony, Leanna, Brooke, Makayla, Layne, Cali, Rowan, Aubrey, Remy and Madison; her siblings, the late Jane Standring of Auburn, John Milley and his wife, Debbie of Worcester, Nancy Milley of Shrewsbury, Gary Milley (Gael Kelleher) of Centerville; her sister-in-law Cheryl Armstrong (Colleen) of Waltham; her nephew, the late Dameon Esposito of Auburn, her niece, Elizabeth Allain and her husband, Jeff; many great-nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Carol’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, Waltham, on Thursday, March 9th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Friday morning where her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
