Mrs. Carol A. (Greenwood) Campbell, of Weston, formerly of Waltham, died Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice Residence in Wayland. She was 75.
Carol was born in Boston on June 19, 1941, a daughter of the late Lester and Anna (Cochran) Greenwood. She was raised in Cambridge where she graduated from Cambridge Latin High School in 1959.
After high school she took a job at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge where she worked until her retirement as the administrative aide in the Health Sciences and Technology Department. Her long tenure at MIT earned her many lifelong friends and was a place where she became the problem solving 'go-to' person for students, professors and administrators.
In December, 1963 she married Robert J. Campbell in Christ Church, Waltham and the pair made Waltham their lifelong home before a move to Weston two years ago. Carol was long active at the church where she served in various capacities.
For more than twenty years Carol and Bob were resident caretakers at the Hovey House in Waltham where they also made many lifelong friends and where Carol took a loving interest in the lives of the residents.
To her family she was the consummate hostess who could organize a dinner party for two or for twenty at a moment's notice . . . holidays were her specialty.
In addition to her husband of fifty-three years, Bob, she leaves her brother, Lewis Greenwood and his wife, Patricia, of Brockton and many nieces, nephews and their families.
Carol was also the sister of the late Joanne Chadwell.
Family and friends will honor and remember Carol's life by gathering for a graveside service in Linwood Cemetery, 190 State Road Bypass (Rte. 20), Weston on Tuesday, June 20th at 11 a.m.
