Needham – Mrs. Carol J. (Wallace) Generoso, of Needham, died Thursday, February 14, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. She was 68.
Carol was born in Waltham on December 26, 1950, a daughter of the late Edward A. "Buddy" and Patricia L. (Forster) Wallace. She was a 1968 graduate of Waltham High School.
After graduating from Brandeis University in 1972, she began a thirty-five year teaching career. Carol taught English at Waltham High School but spent most of her career at Hopkinton High School. Carol earned a Master's degree in Education from Boston College while teaching in Waltham.
During the 1991/92 school year, Carol was awarded a Fulbright Exchange teaching position in Liverpool, England. Her family lived in England and toured Europe after the school year. After returning home Carol and her family moved to Needham.
Throughout her life Carol enjoyed swimming and was a talented gardener at home. In her youth she played tennis and enjoyed many happy summers with her family in Mattapoisett, Dennis and on Martha's Vineyard.
While Carol enjoyed traveling with her husband, Jim, she also appreciated the time spent at their family cottage at Lake Pawtuckaway in Nottingham, New Hampshire where she found peace, light, and much joy among family members.
Carol leaves her husband, James J. Generoso, Jr.; her children, RJ Poirier (Kathleen) of Needham and Nicole Poirier (Dave Fredette) of Boston; her grandchildren, Austin Poirier and Cameron and Charlotte Elizabeth Fredette and her sister, Billie Jane Swisher of Waltham.
Family and friends will honor and remember Carol's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, February 20th from 5 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
