Carol A. King-Shaw

Waltham - Carol A. (Besso) King-Shaw, of Waltham, died Monday, December 3, 2012 in The Westford House. She was 73.

Carol was born in Waltham on April 26, 1939 a daughter of the late Herbert and Mary (Atkinson) Besso. A lifelong Waltham resident she graduated from the former Saint Charles High School. In addition to raising her family she worked for over 18 years in the kitchen at The Leland Home before retiring in 2006. Her needs in life were simple. Carol's life revolved around her family and everything that encompassed their lives. A good game of playing cards on a Friday night or a cup of coffee with close friends were among the other things she enjoyed.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Ellen M. Locke and her siblings, Lawrence Besso, Garrett Besso, Barbara Besso and Dorothy Gordon.

Carol leaves her children, Stephen T. King and his wife, Laurie, of Hudson, New Hampshire, Judy A. Young and her husband, Jerry, of Billerica, Thomas M. King and Carla Calnan, of Hudson, New Hampshire, Mary C. O'Hearn and her husband, Frank, of Hudson, New Hampshire, Michael D. King and his wife, Pamela, of Derry, New Hampshire, Nancy J. Crouss and her husband, William, of Ashland; her siblings, Richard Besso, Joan Wenckus, Madeline LeBlanc, all of Waltham, Herbert Besso of Colorado, Hilda Mullaney of Centerville; her grandchildren, Jessica, Matthew and Lauren King, Garrett Young, Alexandra and Michael King, Katie, Joseph and Thomas O'Hearn, Emily and Brendan Locke, Joshua King, Jacob and Alyssa Crouss; also survived by nieces & nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Carol's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
