Mrs. Carol Jean (Pilon) Martin, of Framingham, formerly of Waltham, died on Monday, March 5, 2012 at home surrounded by her family. She was 63.
Carol was born on December 27, 1948 in Waltham a daughter of the late William H. and Claire C. (O'Toole) Pilon. Raised and educated in Waltham she worked at the former Great Way Restaurant where she met Ralph J. Martin who was the restaurant's cook. They married on August 18, 1965 and they have been residents of Framingham for over 45 years.
She worked alongside her husband in their restaurant, The Tasty Gourmet, in Medford. Over 4 years ago while at the restaurant she had the pleasure of meeting country singer, Gary Gibson. A lover of country music herself Gary later wrote and dedicated a song to her, "She Ain't Got Time to Die."
Tragedy struck them on January 14, 2011 when a fire completely destroyed their home. Carol and her husband remained eternally grateful to the American Red Cross for the generosity and kindnesses extended to them during this time in their lives.
Carol was an avid Red Sox enthusiast and had an affection for butterflies.
In addition to her husband of almost 46 years, Ralph, she leaves her children, Ralph M. Martin Jr., of Framingham, Scott M. Martin and his wife, Jami, of Wakefield, Keith M. Martin and Melony Forrest of Medford and Danielle M. Martin of Fort Meyers, Florida; her siblings, William H. Pilon and his wife, Irene, of Newton, Gerald F. Pilon and his wife, Teri, of Hudson, NH, Linda C. Vallerand and her husband, Ivan, of Burlington, Beverly M. MacLeod and her husband, Steve, of East Douglas, Paula A. Leeper and her husband, Richard, Marlene E. Dupuis and her husband, Bert, all of Waltham and Pamela J. Barry and her husband, Charles, of Billerica; her three grandchildren, Derek, Christian and Teagan; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved pit bulls, Brady and Missy.
Family and friends will honor and remember Carol's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, March 7th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery.
