Carolyn White

Mrs. Carolyn (Ostrowski) White, of Waltham, died Saturday, November 23, 2024 at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln. She was 82.

Born in Hamtramack, Michigan on March 29, 1942, Carol was a daughter of the late Edward and Marie (Sosnowski) Ostrowski.

She met her husband, Newton native William H. White, while he was serving in the United States Air Force in Michigan. Shortly after their marriage Carol and Bill settled in Waltham where they raised their family.

Carol was a terrific wife and mother and took pride in everything that she did. She was an accomplished baker and was known for her trademark chocolate chip cookies.

Carol and her close friend Cathy had many memorable trips to Scotland together, and Carol considered Scotland as her other ‘home.’ She enjoyed watching birds and was enchanted by angels and loved spending time with her favorite canine friend, Sugar Bear. Carol was an avid reader and frequent visitor to the Waltham Public Library where she made many friends.

In addition to her husband, Bill, she was predeceased by her son, Kenneth R. White.

Carol leaves her children, Jacqueline McDonald (and husband Richard) of Waltham and Michael White of Tennessee; her grandchildren, Kenneth, Cameron and Isabella McDonald and Ashley and Julia White; her great-grandchildren, Madison and Hazel Carolyn; her sister, Evelyn Mason of Michigan and several nieces, nephews and their families.

Family and friends will honor and remember Carol's life by gathering for an Evening Wake in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, November 29th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Saturday morning when her Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
