Waltham Miss Catherine S. Flannery of Waltham died Monday, November 3, 2003 at her home. She was 74. Born in Boston, a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Mary A. (Reilly) Flannery, she lived in Waltham for most of her life. She was graduate of Regis College in Weston and received a Masters Degree in Education from Framingham State College. Until her retirement, Miss Flannery worked as a public relations consultant for the Human Life Foundation in Washington, D.C., the New England Home for Little Wanderers in Boston and at Draper Labs in Cambridge. She was the recipient of several advertising, publicity and public relations awards. Before that she was a school teacher in Waltham and in Concord. Miss Flannery also founded the Power Program for Adult Literacy in Waltham in 1986 in conjunction with the Waltham School Department. She was a consultant for the Waltham Central Square Business Association, the Waltham Office of Economic Development and the Marist Missionary Sisters and had been a member of the Augustinian Seculars at Merrimack College in North Andover, the Marist Associates and also volunteered with Companies that Care food pantry in Waltham. She was a sister of the late Thomas J., Jr., Edward J., Paul F., and Robert A. Flannery, Cecelia C. Harris and Mary A. Shaughnessy. She leaves several nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held at 8 a.m. Friday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Marys Church, 133 School Street, Waltham at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours are Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
