Waltham - Mrs. Catherine C. (Noble) Link died on Saturday, August 19, 2023 in her son's home in Marlborough after an illness. She was 94.
Catherine was born January 4, 1929 in Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood a daughter of the late Dwight L. and Delia (Connolly) Noble. A graduate of Girls High School in Roxbury she later married Brighton native John E. Link on October 28, 1950 in Saint Francis de Sales Church. They lived in Brighton before moving to Waltham in 1957 where they became longtime residents. John died † September 2, 2015 and Catherine moved to live with her son in 2021 as the need for more care progressed due to her Alzheimer’s disease.
She worked over twenty years as a bank teller for Waltham Savings Bank retiring in 1999. Previously, she had worked at Graphic Microfilm.
Catherine was a longtime member of Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Parish. In earlier years she and John were active members and volunteers and enjoyed the social outings and engagements of parish life. She loved to travel both throughout New England and the country. Catherine was fortunate to experience trips to Ireland twice and discovered and explored her mother’s native routes (nee Connolly) and land of Carna, Co. Galway as well as visit her relatives. She and her family also created many happy memories during visits to West Yarmouth on the Cape.
In addition to her late husband of 65 years, John, she was predeceased by her grandson, Jeffrey D. Link († September 10, 2019) and her sister, Mary Teresa May.
She leaves her sons, John A. Link of Manhattan, New York and Daniel T. Link (Maria Colindres) of Marlborough; her grandchildren, Julie Wayman (Derek) of Arlington and Stacey Muse (Caleb) of Waltham her great-grandchildren, Reese and Ivy; her daughter-in-law, Susan Link of Waltham; her sister-in-law, Violet Rowe of St. Petersburg, Florida; also survived by nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Catherine’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, August 22nd from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
