Mrs. Catherine A. "Kay" (Hayes) Mandile, of Boynton Beach, Florida, formerly of Waltham, passed away in Boynton Beach, Fla, on Saturday, January 7, 2012. She was 82.
She was born in Cambridge on February 6, 1929, a daughter of the late James W. and Alice R. (Sullivan) Hayes. She was a graduate of Waltham High School, class of 1948. On January 14, 1950 she married Giovanni "John" B. Mandile in Sacred Heart Church. They lived many years in Waltham and Whitinsville, MA before retiring to Florida over 12 years ago.
She worked for many years at Raytheon Corporation in the Apollo Guidance System Division. She later worked in the family businesses, JBM Swiss Screw Machine and Swissturn USA.
She enjoyed rug hooking, playing cards, bingo, traveling, and sitting on the beach..
Catherine is predeceased by her siblings, James W. "Bucko" Hayes, Charles F. Hayes and Rita M. Mandile.
In addition to her husband of almost 62 years, John, she leaves her children, Kathryn M. Harrison and her husband, Lincoln of North Berwick, Maine, Michael V. Mandile and his wife, Cynthia Barshov-Mandile, of Conway, Massachusetts, Kenneth J. Mandile and his wife, Diane, of Webster and Debra A. Mandile of Plum Island, Newburyport; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Catherine's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, January 13th from 4:00 - 8:00 pm and again at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
