Lexington – Miss Catherine T. ‘Kaye’ Moffitt, of Lexington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 8th 2010 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington after a brief illness. She was 82.
Kaye was born on April 13, 1928, the youngest of the four children of the late Joseph and Mary Anne (Dolan) Moffitt and she enjoyed many happy years on Brook Street, Brighton with her parents and her brothers, John and Frank and her sister Betty.
Shortly after graduating from high school, Kaye went to work for the Boston Edison Company were she spent 44 years working in customer relations. During that time, Kaye formed many lifelong friendships and spent many happy years enjoying her neices and nephews. Always quick with a joke, Kaye was well loved by her family and coworkers and she loved traveling and the home she made with her mother on Bellamy Street, Brighton.
After the passing of her beloved mother and Kaye’s retirement in 1992, she continued to travel and spend time with her family. A stroke in 1997 cut short her chance to see more of the world and was the end of Kaye’s independent living. However, the stroke did not deplete her ability to make the most of her life and her loved ones. She was a happy resident of Herrick House in Beverly as well as Youville Assisted Living in Lexington.
Kaye leaves behind her sister, Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Ayotte and brother-in-law, Phil, of Waltham and her brother, John Moffitt of Northboro and many neices and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Kaye’s life by gathering to visit at 9:30 a.m. on Friday morning in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.
