Catherine A. Scafidi Price

Waltham - No one would argue that Catherine Scafidi Price had a good life. While ordinary in most ways it was always filled with the love of a large family. She enjoyed good health most of her life up until the last six weeks when presented with some medical challenges. She had candid but loved filled conversations with her children and they knew she was ready to be reunited with husbands, Ernest Scafidi who died August 16, 1962 and Francis "Smokey" Price who died in January 1986.

Catherine died peacefully on Wednesday, August 15, 2018. She was 88.

For many of her later years simple pleasures for Cathy came in the form of Friday's where it was a trip to the bank…having her hair done…then spending some time with her son, Tom and the patrons of his business Common Cafe on Main Street in Waltham. She had a terrific sense of humor and Tom's patrons loved her company and weekly visit. She recently boasted that she scored a 101 on candlepin bowling at age 88.

Born on November 19, 1929 in Waltham Catherine A. Quinn was a daughter of the late John J. And Mary (Coffey) Quinn. Raised and educated in Waltham she was a graduate of Waltham High School. Catherine worked many years as an inspector for Raytheon Corporation for before retiring in 1992.

A member of Saint Mary's Parish she was also active at the Waltham Senior Center, Waltham Retirees Club of Raytheon and volunteered at the food pantry at Sacred Heart Church.

In addition to her husbands, Ernest and Francis she is predeceased by her sisters, Audrey O'Connell and Loretta Quinn.

She leaves her children, Karen A. Leahy (Timothy) of Derry, New Hampshire, Thomas J. Scafidi (Sharon) of Framingham, Loretta J. Bair (Dean) of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Paul E. Scafidi (Letitia Smith) of Florence and Ann M. Driscoll (John) of Epping, New Hampshire; her grandchildren, Jarrett Leahy, Mallory Scafidi (Shannon Burke), Nia Scafidi, Vanessa Scafidi (Charles Buhl), Nicole Davis, Jessica Kelly (Amanda Cole), Jason, Letitia, Matthew and Ryan Scafidi; her great-grandchildren, Christopher, Tyler and Michael; her brother, Earl Demeo of Boxborough; many nieces & nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Catherine's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday August 19th from 3 to 7 p.m. and again at 8:30 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
