Waltham – Mrs. Catherine A. 'Anna' (Bourque) Willems, of Waltham, died on Monday, January 26, 2015 in Spaulding Hospital, Cambridge. She was 95.
Anna was born in Waltham on October 3, 1919, a daughter of the late Abel and Sabina (Ford) Bourque. She was a talented artist and in her teenage years she loved to paint. Shortly after graduating from high school she worked at the Waltham Watch Factory before enlisting in the Women's Marine Corps Reserve. She spent the next few years traveling across the country and was proud of her service. She married Edgar H. Willems, also a Marine Corps Veteran, and the couple raised their family in Waltham. Anna was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker.
She was predeceased by her husband Edgar and is survived by her children, Thomas E. Willems and his wife, Patricia, of Northborough, Elizabeth A. Kindregan of Waltham and Deborah A. Donnelly and her husband, James, of Littleton; her sister Dorothy Tierney of Holliston; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Edward Bourque, Francis Bourque, Julia Mulvaney, Alice Russell and Margaret Dolan.
Family and friends will honor and remember Anna's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, February 3rd, 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Julia's Church, 374 Boston Post Rd., Weston where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Bourne National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m.
