Waltham - Mrs. Cecilia A. (Patriacca) Grant, of Waltham, died Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the Miriam Boyd Parlin Residence in Wayland. She was 94.
Cecilia was born in Newton on December 27, 1915, a daughter of the late Louis and Maria (Persico) Patriacca, and had been a Waltham resident since 1954. Until her retirement she worked for many years in the cafeterias at the MacArthur and Plympton elementary schools and at Waltham High School. She was a former member of the Fiore d'Italia Lodge No. 1640 of the Order of Sons of Italy in Newton, the Ladies Sodality at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church in Waltham as well as serving on various fundraising committees for building the new church.
She was the wife of the late Lincoln Chester Grant and leaves her children, Lincoln C. Grant, Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Alabama, Stephen E. Grant and his wife, Norma, of Sudbury, Dr. Joseph P. Grant and his wife, Sharon, of Pennsylvania and Elton Grant and his wife, Laureen, of Billerica; her brother and sisters, Dominic Patriacca of Colorado, Raymond Patriacca, Rita Jackson and Jeannette Paoletti all of Newton and Mary Denty of Plymouth; thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Cecilia was also a sister of the late Bernard, Samuel, and John Patriacca, Susan Azzalina and Florence Umbrello.
Family and friends will honor and remember Cecilia’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
