Charles J. Barry

March 6, 1956 — August 10, 2024

N. Billerica

Mr. Charles J. ‘Chuck’ Barry, of N. Billerica, formerly of Waltham, died Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was 68.

Chuck was born in Waltham on March 6, 1956, a son of the late George and Josephine (Cannistraro) Barry, and had been a lifelong Waltham resident before moving to North Billerica more than twenty years ago. He was a 1975 graduate of Waltham High.

Until his retirement in 2022 he worked for forty-six years as a millwright at Raytheon and was the proprietor with his wife, Pam, of Barry’s Variety on River Street and Barry’s II on Elm Street in Waltham for decades.

Never one to sit idly, Chuck took a job, post-retirement, driving for Christianson School Bus Company where he continued to make cherished friendships.

Kindness and generosity were Chuck’s constant companions and his devotion to his family was epic. Chuck loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He and Pam recently celebrated fifty years of marriage with a 64 day air, land and sea journey that took them to places around the globe. Traveling south to Florida or to his favorite place, Aruba, always created special memories.

He also had a passion for riding his Harley-Davidson, being the first to preview a new movie and attending New England Patriot games . . . home and away. Chuck was everyone’s favorite traveling companion and super-fan.

In addition to his wife, Pamela J. (Pilon) Barry, he leaves his children, Kevin C. Barry, Patricia A. Barry Godino (Peter) and Diane M. Kane (Paul),  all of Billerica; his grandchildren, Meaghan, Cassie, Nolan, Allison, Annabelle, John, Gianna, Evan, Zachary and Olivia; his brother and sister, William Barry of Waltham and Karen Law of Fitchburg and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Chuck’s life by gathering for an evening wake on Sunday, August 18th from 4 to 7 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham and again at 9 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 93 Worcester Street, Wellesley, MA 02481 or at https://www.heart.org/
