Wayland – Mr. Charles A. Bell, of Wayland and Venice, Florida, formerly of Weston, died Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham. He was 86.
Charles was born in Oak Park, Illinois on June 12, 1930, the son of the late Charles H. and Laverna (Ludy) Bell. He was raised in Westfield, New Jersey where he graduated from Westfield High School.
After high school he attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge. During the Korean War he served as a sergeant with the United States Army.
On December 21, 1957 he married Ann C. Rogers, a native of Au Sable Forks, New York and the pair lived in Framingham for a short time before moving to Weston where they raised their family. They moved to Wayland thirteen years ago.
Charles was the founder and former president of Precision Systems, Inc. of Natick a medical instrumentation design and manufacturing firm.
He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge in Shirley and also belonged to The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
In addition to his wife, Ann, he leaves his children, Karren F. Windsor of Fremont, California, Jennifer L. Knapp of Weston, Charles S. Bell of Stow, Whitney J. Crane of Reading and Jordan R. Bell of Wayland and fourteen grandchildren.
He was also the brother of the late Janice Jacobs.
Family and friends will honor and remember Charles' life by gathering for his funeral service at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 22nd in Weston United Methodist Church, 377 North Avenue, Weston.
