Stow - Mr. Charles R. Frost, Jr., of Stow, died Thursday, March 24, 2011 at home after a valiant battle with cancer. He was 69.
Charlie was born in Waltham on July 5, 1941, a son of the late Charles R., Sr. and Rita (Cahill) Frost, and was raised in West Newton. He attended Saint Charles High in Waltham and then graduated from Boston College with a bachelor’s degree in economics in 1964. He served with the 26th Infantry Division of the United States Army Reserves from 1964 to 1970. He had been a West Newton resident before moving to Stow in 1989.
He built a successful career in insurance and was partner of the Clarke & Frost Insurance Agency in Framingham for 23 years until his recent retirement. He not only took pride in his business but truly treasured the friends he made over the years.
Charlie loved spending time with his friends and was an avid sportsman and collector. Some of his favorite times were spent salmon fishing on the SW Miramichi and in Newfoundland with his wife and friends. He loved spending weekends at his vacation home in Bridgton, Maine where he became known as one of the “locals” and relaxing with his pets; dogs Brinnie, Reggie, & Skeeter, and cat Lucki.
He is survived by his loving family including his devoted wife Ellen (Lynch) Frost; his daughter, Cynthia M. St. Germain and her husband, Jay Holdash, of Shrewsbury; his son, Todd R. St. Germain and his wife, Lynn, of Holden; his step-daughter, Heather Madden and her husband, Michael, of Woodstock, Connecticut; his grandchildren, Jessica Mitchell of Boston, Emilee and Hayley St. Germain of Holden, and Michael and Jessica Madden of Woodstock; his brother, George B. Frost and his wife, Judy, of Lowell; his nephew, Michael Frost and his family of Lowell and his niece, Susan Chiasson and her family of Westford.
Charlie’s family would like to thank the dedicated group of friends who came to his side as he battled cancer for several years—and to his team of doctors and caregivers.
Family and friends will honor and remember Charlie’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday March 28th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 11 a.m. on Tuesday morning when his funeral service will be held. Burial will be private.
