Waltham – Mr. Charles W. Levey, of Waltham, died Thursday, June 16, 2011 in his home. He was 81.
Charlie was born in Cambridge on January 16, 1930, a son of the late John W. and Ellen G. (Collins) Levey. He lived in Arlington before moving to Waltham as a child. He was a graduate of Waltham High School.
Known to many of his friends as ‘Billy’ he worked as an installer for the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company until his retirement. During the Korean War he served with the United States Air Force. He was a longtime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1105 in Watertown where he served as judge advocate and treasurer.
Charlie leaves his children, Kevin Levey of Hopkinton, Patricia Levey, Jean Cokkinos and Elizabeth Levey all of Waltham; his grandchildren, Meaghan Levey, Melissa Cokkinos and Thomas Giusti; his great-grandchildren, Ella and Audrey Giusti; his brother, John E. Levey of Plaistow, New Hampshire and his longtime companion, Donna Thomas of Waltham.
He was also a brother of the late F. Joseph Levey.
Family and friends will honor and remember Charlie’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, June 20th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
