Charles J. Murphy

Waltham – Mr. Charles J. Murphy, of Waltham, died Friday, September 8, 2017 at his home. He was 76.

Charlie was born in Boston on March 28, 1941, a son of the late Philip and Lillian (Owens) Murphy and lived most of his life in Waltham. He was a graduate of Waltham High School and had attended Boston University.

Until his retirement he worked as a driver for Global Petroleum in Revere and belonged to Teamsters Local 25. Boating was a hobby and he spent many happy days aboard 'Murphy's Law', his Sea Ray harbored at Hawthorne Cove Marina in Salem.

He leaves his wife of fifty-five years, Ann E. (Babstock) Murphy; his children, Charlene M. Glover (Darren) of Waltham, Lisa A. Buchan (Mark) of Norton and Cheryl A. Murphy (Joseph Hovsepian) of Waltham; his grandchildren, Steven Lynch, Scott Wilson, Sarah, Alex and Jack Buchan, Abigail and Hannah Glover, several nieces and nephews and his 'best bow-wow' and loyal companion, Rufus.

Charlie was the brother of the late Dorothy Murphy.

Family and friends will honor and remember Charlie's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, September 12th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
