Lincoln – Mr. Charles A. Newcombe, Jr., of Lincoln, died on Wednesday October 22, 2014 in Emerson Hospital, Concord. He was 74.
Charlie was born in Boston on August 5, 1940, a son of the late Charles A. Newcombe and Rose (Dietrich) Sammarco. He grew up in Belmont and graduated from Belmont High School in 1958. For the last forty-four years he has been a resident of Lincoln where he was the owner of Lincoln Roofing and Carpentry Company. He loved horse racing and enjoyed spending time at Suffolk Downs.
He is survived by his children, Christopher J. Newcombe (Kathrine) of Lincoln, David T. Newcombe of Brookfield, Denise M. Golden (Mark) of Phoenix, Arizona and Dennis M. Newcombe (Michael) of Phoenix, Arizona; his grandchildren, Chaz, Nicole, Erica and Patrick Newcombe, Hailey and Giavanna Golden; his brothers, Robert Newcomb (Kristina) of New Hampshire and Lawrence Newcombe of Sudbury; his former wife Frances J. (Muccioli) Osborne and is also survived by many dear friends including Leo Kiley and Mary Ann McGee and many nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Charles A. Newcombe, III, grandfather of the late Jesse T. Newcombe and brother of the late Russell Newcombe.
Family and friends will honor and remember Charlie's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday October 26th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Monday morning when his Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery.
