Waltham - Mr. Charles W. Reilly, of Waltham, died on October 18, 2009 after a brief illness. He was 91 years old. Born in Lowell, Charlie was a resident of Waltham for over 70 years. He was the son of the late James T. Reilly and Mary V. Reilly. Charlie was predeceased by his sisters, Helen Flynn, Mary Belliveau, Dorothy Harris and Nona Wheeler, and his brothers, Francis Reilly, James Reilly, John Reilly, Leo Reilly and Philip Rhodes. He leaves 27 nephews and nieces and his brother-in-law, Richard D. Harris of Bedford. A graduate of St. Mary's High School in Waltham, Charlie earned a B.S. from Boston College and an MBA from Northeastern University. He was a veteran of World War II and served as a Staff Sergeant (T3) in the US Army Medical Corps in North Africa, Italy and the Pacific. After his military service, Charlie was a chemist with the Boston Gas Company for 37 years until his retirement. A pleasant and generous man with a lifelong love of golf, Boston sports and good conversation, he will be missed by his many relatives and friends. Family and friends will honor and remember Charlie's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Lowell.
