Waltham - Mr. Charles N. Russell of Waltham and Falmouth, died Friday January 20, 2006 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 86. Born and raised in Waltham, a son of the late Charles and Mary (Heywood) Russell, he was a Waltham Firefighter for thirty-two years before retiring in 1975. He also worked for BayBank in Waltham for many years. Mr. Russell was a member of the Joseph F. Hill American Legion Post #156 in Waltham, Club 50 of Watertown Savings Bank, the Waltham Firefighters Association, and had been a summer resident of Falmouth. During World War II he served with the United States Navy. He was the husband of the late Barbara L. (Anderson) Russell, brother of the late Chester H. Russell, and brother in law of the late Dorothy H. ussell and Gordon F. Anderson. He leaves his son, Craig L. Russell of Waltham, three sisters-in-law, Verna Hemphill of Weston, Lorraine Crabtree of Danvaers, Doris Anderson of Watertown, and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to charity of one's choice.
