Hudson, New Hampshire – Mr. Charles J. Russo, of Hudson, New Hampshire, formerly of Waltham, died Thursday, January 6, 2011 at his home peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.He was 84.
Charlie was born in Boston on June 15, 1926, a son of the late Giuseppe and Margherita (Alabisi) Russo, after graduating from Brighton High School in 1943 he went on to serve with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as an automotive technician for over fifty years working at various shops throughout his career. Charlie lived in Waltham for many years before moving to Hudson ten years ago.
He leaves his wife of sixty-four years Concetta “Connie” M. (Bartolucci) Russo; his children Margaret R. Gifford and her husband, Bruce, of Nashua, NH, Joseph C. Russo and his wife, Marie, of Burlington MA, and Charles J. Russo, Jr. of Plainville, MA, his grandchildren Robert, Charlie III, Wesley, Christopher, Michael, Alex, Steven and April; his great-grandson Bruce and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Charlie’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Tuesday, January 11th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on THURSDAY morning at 9 a.m. before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham, where his Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Saint Michael’s Cemetery, 500 Canterbury St., Roslindale.
