Charles T. Ryan, of Waltham, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, April 7, 2025. He was 77.
Born in Newton on November 21, 1947, Charlie was the son of the late John and Mary (Burgess) Ryan. He was raised in Waltham and graduated from Waltham High School.
On April 26, 1969, Charlie married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ellen Bradley, in Saint Jude Church. They cherished the fifty-five years of marriage they shared, enjoying many vacations together, traveling on cruises with friends and spending the last several winters at their home in Sarasota, Florida, where they would share many games on the bocce court together.
Charlie was a skilled golfer and a member of Marlborough Country Club for thirty-three years, where he made many friends and even more memories. He also enjoyed golfing down in Sarasota.
Charlie was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a hardworking provider for his family. He started his career at E.C. Fredericks Plumbing, where he earned his license and eventually became a Master Plumber. In 1977, he joined Raytheon and enjoyed a long and successful career as a facilities manager, dedicating over three decades of service to the company before retiring.
In addition to his wife, Mary Ellen Ryan, he leaves his children Charles T. Ryan, Jr. (Danielle) and Kelly Recine (Joseph), both of Waltham; his grandchildren, Mikayla and Morgan Ryan, and Madison and Jake Recine; his sister, Linda Bent (John) of Lake Ossipee, New Hampshire, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Charlie’s life by gathering for an Evening Wake in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Sunday, April 13th, from 5 to 8 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
