Waltham – Mrs. Charlotte A. (Stewart) Callahan, of Waltham, died Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Oak Knoll Healthcare Center in Framingham. She was 76.
Charlotte was born in Brighton on December 20, 1937, a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Houghton) Stewart. She was raised in Brighton and was a graduate of Brighton High School.
She was married to Allston native Edward J. "Huck" Callahan for forty-eight years until Huck's death on April 7, 2012. The couple lived in Brighton before moving to Waltham twenty-five years ago.
Until her retirement Charlotte was a cafeteria manager with the Boston Public School Department, mainly at the Garfield School and at Brighton High. She and her late husband spent summers in Wareham where they belonged to the Wareham Elks and spent several winters in Nokomis, Florida.
Charlotte leaves her children, Deborah Holmes and her husband, Stephen, of Framingham and Edward Callahan and his wife, Madeline, of Waltham; her sister, Phyllis Rufo of Framingham and many nieces and nephews.
She was also a sister of the late John and William Stewart and Elizabeth Peterson.
Family and friends will honor and remember Charlotte's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), WALTHAM, on Wednesday, July 9th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery, Waltham.
