Waltham— Mrs. Christine H. Daigle, of Waltham, died Saturday, October 23, 2021 in her home. She was 73 years old.
Christine was born in Cambridge on December 16, 1947, a daughter of the late John P. and Margaret (McCusker) Henry. Raised in Arlington, she attended Saint Agnes School and was an alumna of Arlington Catholic High School. She married Gerard Daigle in Saint Agnes Church in Arlington on October 24, 1970, and the pair made Waltham their home where they would raise their family.
While providing a loving and caring home for her family, Christine had worked in various positions at First National Supermarket, Weston Golf Club, the Chateau Restaurant, and for Tufts Health Plan.
She loved spending time by the ocean; as a child she enjoyed spending summers in Nahant where she discovered her love of water skiing. In her later years she made many happy memories with her family at York Beach in Maine and at Lake Sherburne in Waterboro, Maine.
She maintained a wide circle of friends with whom she loved catching up with over a cup of coffee, especially at one of her favorite 'meeting' spots, the Dunkin' Donuts on Lexington Street discussing the affairs of the day, of family and of the neighborhood. A breast cancer survivor, Christine lived her life with a strong will and a huge dose of faith. Of her many joys in life, the true hallmarks of her life were love, faith, family, and friendship. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and most recently great-grandmother. She provided her family with a wonderful, warm, and inviting home and was welcoming to all.
She leaves her beloved husband, Gerard J. Daigle, Sr. of Waltham, her children, Gerard J. Daigle, Jr. (Kim) of Waltham, Marcia M. Simmons (late Christopher) of Atkinson, New Hampshire, Robert M. Daigle of Waltham, Michael J. Daigle (Jen) of Hopkinton, and Christine M. Daigle (Scott Redfern) of Hudson, her grandchildren, Angela, Rebecca, Nathan, and Justin Simmons, Lindsay Rice (Matt), Kasey Guigno (Eric), Natalie, Lillian and Caleb Redfern, and Julia and Meckenzie Daigle, her great-granddaughter Adalyn Rice, her siblings, Martin Henry (Gretchen) of Nahant, and Jane Walsh of Marlborough, her sister-in-law, Mildred Henry of Lexington, and her brother-in-law, Merrill Thompson of Marlborough. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Christine is reunited in Heaven with her son, the late Stephen J. Daigle, and her siblings, the late John "Frank" Henry, Anne Thompson, and Maureen Henry.
Family and friends will honor and remember Christine's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Thursday, October 28th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, Massachusetts, 02452.
