Waltham – Mr. Christopher E. Chase, of Waltham, died Saturday, December 11, 2021 in Benchmark Senior Living at Waltham Crossings. He was 73.
Christopher was born March 11, 1948 in Longmeadow, a son of the late Dana and Allethaire (Medlicott) Chase. His father was in the Navy and later worked for Boeing so the family moved often when Chris was growing up. He graduated from Bellevue High School in Washington State and then earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Washington. After his graduation he moved back to Massachusetts to help care for his mother. Until his retirement he had worked as a chemist; beginning his career at Boston Medical Lab, Spaulding Hospital in Boston and had most recently worked at Nova Biomedical in Waltham.
On May 24, 2003 he married Susan (De Guzman) Chase at the Cathedral of the Pines in New Hampshire. The couple spent many happy years travelling the world. They especially enjoyed Europe and Asia, visiting France, Italy, Spain, Israel, Prague and the Great Wall of China. Chris was a history buff, and loved experiencing the places that he had read and learned about.
Christopher leaves his wife, Susan (De Guzman) Chase, of Waltham, and her daughter Reychel Arias, of California. His siblings Dana Chase, Jr. (Melinda) of California, Steven Chase (Isabelle Meulnet) of Vermont, Robin 'Rob' Chase (Annie) of Vermont, Allethaire S. Noronha (Marian) of New Hampshire and Meredith Battan (John) of Maryland, and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Family and friends will honor and remember Christopher's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, December 17th, 4-8pm. Burial will be on Saturday at 12 noon, at Longmeadow Cemetery, 34 Williams St, Longmeadow, MA 01106.
