Waltham - Mr. Christopher B. Darcy, of Waltham, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013. He was 26.
Christopher was born November 10, 1986 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, a son of Brian J. and Suzanne J. (Roller) Darcy. A lifelong Waltham resident he graduated from Landmark High School in Beverly in 2005. At 6'5" Chris played and captained the basketball, soccer and lacrosse teams. He had a lifelong passion for criminal justice and a dream of becoming a police officer. He graduated from Westfield State College with a degree in criminal justice.
Chris had most recently been working on the City of Waltham's Police Department.
He was a kind, respectful, loyal, compassionate young man who was lovingly known as the gentle giant. He was devoted to and adored his family and friends. He was active in body and had a passion for kayaking on Big Sandy Pond and Grey's Beach, both in Yarmouth on the Cape, sky diving, scuba diving and cooking. He loved being with his family and friends at their home on Cape Cod where his family maintains a home in Yarmouth.
In addition to his parents, Brian and Suzanne, he leaves his siblings, Alexandra S. Karey and her husband, Erik of Holliston, MacKenzie B. Darcy and Matthew E. Darcy, both of Waltham; his aunts and uncles, Debra and Ron Pelletier, Kevin and Karen Darcy, Marc Lapenta, and David and Joyce Roller.
Family and friends will honor and remember Christopher's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, July 31st from 4 to 8 p.m. followed by his Funeral Service at 8 p.m. Burial will be private.
The family prefers that donations be made to a memorial in Chris' name, which can be given to The Christopher B. Darcy Scholarship Fund at http://christopherdarcyscholarshipfund.org/ which will assist prospective students at Landmark School with tuition costs.
