Watertown – Claire M. (Garvin) Boucher, died Monday, November 25, 2024 in Care Dimensions Hospice Residence in Lincoln after an illness. She was 65.
Claire M. Garvin was born August 13, 1959 in Waltham a daughter of the late John F. and Catherine L. (Joyce) Garvin. Raised and educated in Waltham she graduated from Waltham High School with the class of 1977. She was married to Robert P. Boucher and they have made Watertown their home for the last thirty years.
Claire enjoyed a successful career and was a well-respected colleague at the Boston Globe where she had worked since 2001. She worked as a credit and finance accountant in the accounts receivable department and was still employed by The Globe at the time of her death. Prior to working with The Globe she enjoyed her work at Thomas Cook American Express – Heritage Travel Company and it was in the post 9/11 world that she changed careers to the newspaper industry.
She loved travelling and took her mother on countless trips and vacations. She loved their home on Brandley Road and all the wonderful neighbors who became longtime friends. Claire loved to shop but was always thinking of others with a gift to give…often without reason or occasion.
In addition to her husband Bob, she leaves her siblings, John F. ‘Jack’ Garvin (Barbara) of Waitsfield, Vermont, Joyce A. Hervey (David) of Framingham, Frederick J. Garvin (Carolina) of Waltham, and James M. Garvin of Acton; her nieces, Lauren Heller (Matthew), Alyssa Moore (Dean), and nephew John Hervey (Charlotte); great-nephews, Reed and Myles Heller; in-laws, Richard ‘Rick’ Boucher of Cambridge and Susan Koziol (John) of Tucson, Arizona and many cousins with whom she remained close, wonderful neighbors and co-workers from the Boston Globe.
