Claire A. (Cheetham) Kiejzo, 90, of Waltham, MA, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2023 at the Senior Living Center at Waltham Crossings after a period of declining health. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Vincent Kiejzo, who died in 2017.
Claire was born in Pawtucket, RI on March 11, 1932. She was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Hurley) Cheetham. Following her graduation from St. Xavier’s Academy in Providence, RI in 1949, she was employed by the State of Rhode Island. After marrying, she lived in Fort Meade, Maryland until her husband’s discharge from the Army. They then lived in Somerville, MA for 2 years before buying their home in Waltham in 1958. Claire worked for many years at the former Standard Thomson Corporation in Waltham and then at Raytheon Company until her retirement in 1996.
Claire loved retirement and cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a devout parishioner of Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Parish, a quilter, an avid reader, a fan of crossword and jigsaw puzzles as well a devoted fan of the Celtics and Patriots. She also enjoyed the many friends and happy times she had at the Senior Center in Waltham. There, she joined a quilting class and made many beautiful quilts for her family members.
Claire is survived by her children: Alexander Kiejzo of Milford, MA, Susan (Kiejzo) Lambert and her husband Bruce of Nashua, NH and Michael Kiejzo of Waltham, MA and sister: Linda (Cheetham) Olobri and her husband Richard of Lincoln, RI. She was predeceased by her brother, James T. Cheetham, III of Pawtucket, RI.
In addition to her children, Claire is survived by her grandchildren: Jennifer Hurd Hinkle, Amanda Hurd, Vincent Kiejzo, Matthew Hurd, Lianne Kiejzo Richards, Christopher Hurd, Anthony Kiejzo, Melissa Lambert, Devon Lambert, Hannah Lambert, Jonathan Lambert, and Derrick Lambert along with 16 great grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Claire's life by gathering for visiting hours at the Joyce Funeral Home (www.joycefuneralhome.com), 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, February 6th from 4 to 7 PM and again at 9 AM on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham, where a Mass of Christian Burial for Claire will be celebrated 10 AM. Burial will follow at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, MA.
