Waltham – Mr. Claude J.E. Cormier, of Waltham, died Friday, October 5, 2007 in Lahey Clinic, Burlington. He was 71. Claude was born June 26, 1936 in College Bridge, Memramcook, New Brunswick, Canada, a son of the late Hypolite and Zelma (Bourgeois) Cormier and moved to the United States in 1962 settling in Waltham. Claude owned and operated Claude’s Service Station, Inc., formerly known as Bear Hill Sunoco. After 24 years of ownership he retired in 1994. Previously, he had worked for General Motors in Framingham and the former Leo LeBlanc Service Station and Oil Delivery Company. He was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed traveling extensively with his wife in their motor home. He also enjoyed working in his yard and around his home. Claude is remembered as a kind, generous and gentle man and a much loved ‘Pepere’ to his four grandchildren. Claude is survived by his wife of 44 years, Huberte E. ‘Beth’ (Landry) Cormier of Waltham, two sons Daniel C.J. Cormier and his wife, Denise, and Terence P. Cormier and his wife, Yvonne, all of Maynard; four brothers, Francis and Gerard Cormier, both of Memramcook, New Brunswick, Alonzo Cormier of Acton, Ontario, Fernand ‘Curly’ Cormier of Alexander, Maine, formerly of Waltham; four sisters, Gerene Pottier of Lindsay, Ontario, Stella LeBlanc and Pauline Cormier, both of Memramcook, New Brunswick and Rachel Gaudet of Dieppe, New Brunswick; four grandchildren, Jared, Deric, Meredith and Collin Cormier, all of Maynard; and many nieces and nephews. Claude was also a brother of the late Oscar and Eugene Cormier. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 9 a.m. Saturday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours are Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. To honor Claude’s love for his grandchildren and sports, most especially football, donations may be made to Maynard Youth Football & Cheerleading, P.O. Box 516, Maynard, MA 01754.
