Waltham – Mrs. Claudine D. (Michell) Slamin, of Waltham, died Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was 86.
Claudine was born in Calcutta, India, on November 28, 1924, a daughter of the late Charles and Nora (Hardy) Michell. She was raised and educated in India and in England. She met and married her late husband, Jim, in 1946 while he was serving as a captain with the United States Army’s 835th Signal Service Battalion in New Delhi, India during World War II. After the war Claudine moved back to Waltham with Jim and had been a resident since.
The wife of the late James J. Slamin, Jr., she leaves her daughter, Patricia M. Slamin and her husband, Ernest Kemery, of Wilmington; her step-granddaughter, Elizabeth Lewis and her husband, Mark, of Hingham; her sister and brother, Audrey Neck of Bournemouth, England and Norman Jones of Oxted, Surrey, England and several nieces and nephews.
She was also a sister of the late William, Ernest and Leslie Michell and Edith Snelgrove and sister-in-law of the late Joseph F. and Dorothy (Slamin) Hill.
Family and friends will honor and remember Claudine’s life by gathering to visit at 12 noon on Friday, June 3rd, in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Route 20), Waltham where her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
